Being run over in Asia

Walking across a road in Southest Asia is extremely dangerous as all cars run on the wrong lane.

According to a police officer’s confused response, there doesn’t appear to be any provisions as to when this problem will be fixed (or even dealt with, for that matter).
I suspect this issue is being completely overlooked.

For the moment being, the only workaround available is to always cross roads on zebra crossings, or avoid crossing roads altogether, the latter being definitely safer.
